Attacks and slows enemies over a medium range. More accurate up close.
Mounted Guns is a Harbour Building and one of the defence turrets which attacks enemy ships located within its range and line of sight. Ships under its attack are slowed down and have lower attack speed. It can be built in the Old World (and Cape Trelawney), the New World and Enbesa, it requires free harbour area, does not need any road connection. After construction or relocation, one minute needs to pass to train fusiliers, only after this time the mounted guns can start attacking enemies.
Properties and usage[]
Mounted guns are the first and the cheapest defence turrets in the game. They have low damage, medium attack range and medium hitpoints, but high attack speed. From a distance they are inaccurate and only a part of their potential damage is actually dealt to their target. Their biggest advantage is the special effect they apply to ships under their attack. Attacked ships receive "Incapacitated" effect: they become 50% slower and their attack speed is reduced by 30%. This effect lasts for 5 seconds since the last time the ship got shot by the mounted guns.
Because of their low range and low accuracy from afar, the mounted guns should not be used as the only defence of an island, except for the earliest stages of the game. However, due to their ability to slow down and decrease the damage potential of enemy ships, they can compliment other defences like cannon towers or big betties. Slowing down enemies can make them very easy targets for other turrets and ships, making it difficult for the enemy to escape.
Mounted guns can be easily outranged by battle cruisers so they are practically useless against them. Ships-of-the-line can also outrange the mounted guns when equipped with items which increase attack range by at least 10%.
