Iron Mine produces iron from an iron deposit in the mountain. It can be built only in the Old World, it requires an iron deposit.
Productivity
It takes 15 seconds to produce 1 ton of iron so the production rate is 4 tons of iron per minute. Productivity can be changed by adjusting working conditions and using items and electricity.
Iron usage and production chains
Iron is the first resource obtained from mountain deposits. In the beginning it is used to produce steel beams and
weapons. Later on it is used to produce many important goods such as
canned food,
sewing machines or
steam carriages. It is one of the most important resources in the game as it is used in almost the highest number of production chains (9 chains).
Iron has no particular use during expeditions. It can be sold for 10 coins, or purchased for 26 coins per ton (by passive trading). Iron can be actively bought from Eli Bleakworth and Old Nate (DLC) at their harbours for 26 coins.
