Hacienda is a modular building - a hybrid of Infrastructure, Public Service and Administration Building - which acts as a warehouse and an agricultural hub of the island. It includes modules for roads, storerooms, farms, breweries, fertiliser works, and larger residences for jornaleros, obreros, and (if New World Rising DLC icon New World Rising DLC is active) artistas. All modules have to be placed within the hacienda's radius, which increases as the population living on the island increases. Additionally, the hacienda can have one out of five policies active, which affects buildings on the entire island, even if they are outside the radius. Hacienda requires the Seeds of Change DLC icon Seeds of Change DLC and it is unlocked upon reaching Obreros Obreros, it can be built only in the New World, only one hacienda can be built per island.

Radius[]

Haciendas have a radius, in which all of their modules have to be placed to be operational. If they are built outside of the radius, they will not work and eventually become ruins. Crop farms only need the main building to be located within the radius, the fields and other modules of the farm can be placed outside of the radius of the hacienda.

The radius depends on the population living on the same island. The larger the population, the bigger the radius and the more modules can be fit into the space within:

  • Base radius: 15 tiles
  • 200 population: 25 tiles
  • 400 population: 35 tiles
  • 600 population: 45 tiles
  • 800 population: 55 tiles
  • 1000 population: 65 tiles
  • 1200 population: 75 tiles (maximum)

Hacienda as a public service[]

Hacienda acts as a public service for Hacienda Jornalero Quarters Hacienda Jornalero Quarters and Hacienda Obrera Quarters Hacienda Obrera Quarters, fulfilling their basic need for a hacienda. Like every public building the hacienda can affect only those quarters which are connected to it by roads and are placed within its range. The strength of its effects is based on the street distance between the affected building and the hacienda. Its full range (dark green) is 48 tiles for Dirt Road dirt roads and 71 for Paved Street paved streets. Its max range (light green) is 98 tiles for dirt roads and 146 for paved streets.

When Hacienda Jornalero Quarters Hacienda Jornalero Quarters or Hacienda Obrera Quarters Hacienda Obrera Quarters are in the full range of the hacienda, each of them gains 7 inhabitants. When residences are outside of the full range but inside the max range they gain less inhabitants based on the street distance from the hacienda. Hacienda Artista Quarters Hacienda Artista Quarters have no need for hacienda, and only have to be placed anywhere within its radius, like other hacienda modules.

Hacienda as a warehouse[]

As an infrastructure building, hacienda also acts like a warehouse. Carts from other buildings can unload and load goods at the hacienda. It has 4 loading ramps, but unlike warehouses, the state of the loading ramps is not displayed at the hacienda's menu.

Policies[]

As an administration building, hacienda includes the option to select one of the five policies, most of which are unlocked only if the island's attractiveness is high enough. When a policy is active, its effects are automatically applied to all appropriate buildings on the island, regardless of their distance from the hacienda. In each hacienda, it is possible to select only one of the policies, and the choice of the policy is separate for each island.

Modules[]

There are up to nine different hacienda modules: two types of roads, two types of quarters (three with additional DLC), a storeroom, farm, brewery and fertiliser works. All modules need to be constructed within the radius of the hacienda and most of them also have to be connected to the hacienda via a road – either regular roads or paving/pathway modules of the hacienda.

Paving and Pathway[]

Each hacienda offers a limited number of paving and pathway modules: 999 overall. They fulfill the same functions as paved street.

Hacienda Jornalero, Obrera and Artista Quarters[]

Jornalero, obrero and artista quarters are larger than regular residences and have higher capacity, but in exchange for having additional basic needs. Artista quarters also require New World Rising DLC icon New World Rising DLC.

Hacienda Farm[]

Hacienda farms can produce some of the typical New World agricultural products and they need significantly lower number of modules. They can work even when the island does not have appropriate fertilities and can also produce potatoes and grain, which otherwise are available for production only in Old World.

Hacienda Brewery[]

Hacienda breweries are not big in size, can produce rum and new goods like hot sauce, as well as some Old World goods: schnapps and beer.

Hacienda Fertiliser Works[]

Haciendas also include fertiliser works which produce fertiliser utilising animal farms within radius. The fertiliser can be used at fertiliser silos built right next to crop farms in order to improve their productivity. Fertiliser silos can be constructed at all kinds of crop farms, including hacienda farms and farms in other regions.
