Edvard Goode is a non-playable character (NPC) in Anno 1800 and an antagonist in the Campaign.
He is both Hannah Goode's and the player's uncle. Unpleasant in personality to say the least, Edvard Goode took over control of the venerable Goode and Sons Trading Company when its proprietor, his brother Samuel, was accused of treason and imprisoned. Now in control of the industrial and financial powerhouse of Bright Sands, Edvard is attempting to rapidly reshape the company and its society to fit its image -- and is willing to use any means, no matter how questionable, to combat the pushback from workers used to his brother's more amicable style.
Edvard is snide, petty, and cruel, reactions stemming from very clear anxiety over his sudden rise to power and prestige. He tends to overreact severely to setbacks and displays ill regard for anyone connected to his late brother.
Edvard is an initial obstacle to the player, demanding goods in payment for the player's father's funeral and using political connections to prevent them from gaining the ability to build ships. However, matters quickly escalate past him as the campaign progresses, and as he does not expand or build a navy, his control of Bright Sands becomes a footnote for a significant portion of time until matters come to a head in the final act.
